What moves the price

  1. Hours. Private events usually have a 1 hour minimum and corporate events a 2 hour minimum, because travel, setup and pack-down take time.
  2. Number of artists. Matched to how many guests will want a balloon in the time you have. Past 60 to 80 guests in a fixed window, you need two or more.
  3. Custom designs. Characters, mascots and branded shapes take longer and are charged per design.
  4. The date. Weekday parties are usually 10 to 15 percent cheaper than weekends. Chinese New Year week and the December school holidays can carry a small surcharge.
  5. The venue. Parking and venue entry fees are usually extra, and major venues may need vendor passes.

What the fee includes

A standard booking covers the artist's time for the full slot, all balloons and materials, travel within Singapore and setup shortly before the slot. The artist arrives 15 to 30 minutes early. The standard design set covers animals, swords, flowers, hats and simple characters. Custom characters and branded shapes cost extra, and licensed characters may be declined for copyright reasons.

How to compare two quotes

A cheaper quote is not cheaper if it sends one artist for 100 children. Ask every quote to state the number of artists, the hours, whether the artist roves or works at a station, the design set, any custom designs and the rate for extra time. The hiring guide has the full checklist.

Ways to spend less

  • Choose a weekday if you can.
  • Keep to the standard design set for big crowds.
  • Book the right number of artists for a shorter slot instead of one artist for a long one.
  • Bundle a balloon artist with a face painter in one booking.
  • Book early for December, Chinese New Year and school holiday weekends.
