Balloon twisting and face painting are the most common pair at Singapore kids parties. You book one balloon artist and one face painter, usually for 2 to 3 hours, and set them up in different corners. Children who are waiting for a face design watch the balloons, and children holding a balloon join the face painting line. Two stations keep two queues short, and one booking for both usually costs less than booking each act separately.
Price: face painting plus balloon twisting for 90 minutes to 2 hours in Singapore usually costs SGD 700 to 1,100. A balloon artist alone for a 2 hour birthday party usually costs SGD 380 to 480. See all balloon artist prices.
Why two stations work
One balloon artist makes about 15 to 25 simple pieces an hour. One face painter does about 12 to 15 detailed faces an hour, or 20 to 25 simple ones. On its own, either one builds a queue at a party of 30 children. Side by side, the children split between them, the waiting time drops, and nobody stands in line for half the party.
How to set up the room
- Face painting corner: a small table, a chair for the child, good light and a shaded spot. The painter brings paints, brushes, wipes and a design menu.
- Balloon corner: a small table, or none at all if the artist roves. Keep it a few metres from the face painting table so the two lines do not merge.
- Timing: a 2 hour party usually runs arrival and free play for about 20 minutes, a main activity, then a second activity such as balloons or face painting, and the cake in the last half hour. Two stations can also run from the start, next to free play.
Planning for the ages
Children of 3 to 5 like simple balloon animals and small cheek designs, and prefer a smaller group. Children of 6 to 9 want detailed balloon pieces and full face designs, and will wait for them. Tell the team the full age range, so both artists plan the right designs.
For bigger events
At a family day or school carnival with more than 80 children, add artists to both stations, or add a roving balloon artist who moves through the crowd. See balloon artists for corporate family days and school events.
Allergies and outdoor events
Tell the team about sensitive skin so the face painter can patch test or skip an area. Tell them about any latex allergy too. Outdoors, face paint dries patchy in direct sun and does not survive rain, so ask for a tent or a shaded corner. For balloons outdoors, ask about biodegradable latex.
Book both
Send the date, the venue, the hours and the number of children with their ages on WhatsApp or through the quote form. For a birthday, also read balloon artists for birthday parties.
